Reading the newspaper today, The Independent. I came across some articles that really pissed me off. To start with, there was an article on Morrissey (ex singer of The Smiths). I admire his work and love many of his songs and he is of course famous for being a severe misery with his genuine observations of everyday life. He is also a very staunch campaigner against animal rights. Fine. But… This is the giant turd that came out of his mouth during a recent concert in Warsaw:
"We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead. Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried shit every day.
What else can be said regarding a comment like that? Morrissey, fellow grumpy twat, you are a true dick head!!! Could not find the article from The Independent I read, but there is one from the Daily Mail here
I hate seeing animals suffer just as much as the next compassionate person, but we live in a very fucked up world and sometimes there is nothing we can do about it.
He has labelled the Chinese as a “sub-species” because of their awful record on animal welfare, I myself have a great deal of troulbe accepting the fact that in various parts of China they eat Cats and Dogs and all sorts of other cute cuddly animals, but hey, it is a totally different world and it is part of their culture. In Spain, Portugal, Mexico and even in some part of France they have bullfighting, totally wrong in my opinion, but it is part of their culture, what really pisses me off is that we have so many human beings suffering the world over and efforts are best concentrated on HUMANS first, then animals. Fortunately in the UK, we have an excellent organisation, the RSPCA which does an awesome job caring for animal welfare.
And in a separate article in the same newspaper The Independent, there was the following gem (non-sarcastic) by Carol Sarler, taken from the Daily Mail:
"DON’T MISTAKE PETS FOR FRIENDS
Why would Alexander McQueen leave £50,000 to his dogs? When people leave to an animal the kind of money that most would consider a handsome sum for a human, what they are really doing is demonstrating not just that they have a singularly icky relationship with their pet, but that they also have a lamentably distorted sense of priorities… I cannot begin to understand a person who would sit down, today, and sign a will that leaves tens of thousands to one cat or dog. Not, that is, if they own a television and have turned it on of late. Not if they have gazed into the dying eyes of Somalian children. (Carol Sarler, Daily Mail)
Let’s try and get our priorities straight, animals need to be treated with respect and unfortunately the world is the way it is. One day hopefully, beef burgers, McWoofs from China and Kentucky Fried Shit will be a thing of the past if humanity ever develops the technology to create artificial and highly nutritious and delicious food without the need to slaughter animals. But then again, pigs might also fly one day and humanity (very loose term) on this mud ball called earth might be wiped out by an asteroid. So until then, enjoy your grease, heart attack inducing, cholesterol filled junk food.
